They have unique curly plumage caused by the frizzle gene. Their appearance makes them an interesting addition to any backyard flock.
Listen up my fellow WoW gamers, I’ve got the scoop on one of the weirdest chickens you’ll ever meet in Zereth Mortis I’m talking about the Frazzled Poultrid Hen who’s clucking around all confused, trying to lay her eggs in the totally wrong cave
I know pets and mounts are the best part of WoW, so I had to figure out how to help this silly hen out. Want to collect your own feathery and rather frazzled friend? Then let me show you how to get this funny fowl to move her tailfeathers so you can claim the treasure she’s guarding.
Introducing One Frazzled Bird
First, allow me to introduce the Frazzled Poultrid Hen. This hysterical headless hen is found in a cave behind the giant orb in Zereth Mortis, which is pretty strange scenery for a chicken.
She’s fluttering around all stressed out because somehow she ended up trying to nest in this orb cave instead of a normal chicken coop. And she won’t budge until she can lay her eggs!
When you talk to her, you’ll see the quest to collect 5 Lost Ovoids all around the zone and bring them back to her These will apparently help, er, unfrazzle her.
So let’s breakdown how to gather up those crazy ovoids for this even crazier chicken!
collecting the lost Ovoids:
Here are the key tips for tracking down all 5 Lost Ovoids to bring back to the Frazzled Poultrid Hen
- They look like little white glowing spheres on the ground.
- They respawn in random locations around glowy orb objects.
- I’ll list some coordinates below to help your search.
- Use the targeting reticule to locate them easily.
- The spawn points change with server resets.
- Don’t give up – they can be elusive!
Check near the following coordinates and areas:
- 41.36 69.38 – South of The Azure Vale
- 34.54 49.70 – The Azure Vale
- 35.95 46.03 – The Azure Vale
- 39.35 50.97 – The Azure Vale
- 44.60 51.91 – East of The Azure Vale
- And more (see my notes for more possible spawn points)
Once you’ve managed to collect 5x Lost Ovoids, it’s time to head back to the Frazzled Hen’s cave lair.
Returning the Ovoids:
Now the fun part – bringing those ovoids to the Frazzled Poultrid Hen! Here’s how to complete the quest:
- Return to the cave behind the giant orb.
- Talk to the Frazzled Poultrid Hen inside.
- Choose dialogue to hand over the 5 Lost Ovoids.
- Enjoy the silly cutscene of her laying her eggs!
- Loot the Mistaken Ovoid treasure once she moves along.
- Collect your new battle pet – Schematic: Multichicken!
And voila! You’ve successfully helped this confused clucker lay her eggs and scored a funky mechanical chicken pet. Well worth it if you ask me!
hints and tips for the lost ovoid search:
To recap, here are my top tips for getting those slippery Lost Ovoids:
- Patrol the orb areas and use your target to spot the ovoids
- Check behind buildings and under platforms
- Have patience if they don’t spawn right away
- Group up to cover more ground
- Don’t forget to check inside buildings and caves
- If you miss one, it could respawn fast so recheck
- It may take serveral laps and quitting/relogging
And coordinates for potential spawn points:
/way 41.36 69.38
/way 34.54 49.70
/way 35.95 46.03
/way 39.35 50.97
/way 44.60 51.91
/way 34.67 69.25
/way 34.30 66.54
/way 49.22 71.70
/way 50.80 70.86
/way 55.14 76.78
This just proves that WoW is still full of suprises, even after all these years. And I love that we get to run around collecting stuff for a kooky chicken who’s trying to nest in a highly illogical spot. The Frazzled Poultrid Hen adventure put a huge smile on my face.
So if you’re looking for something entertaining to do in Zereth Mortis, give this one a try. The Multichicken battle pet reward is pretty sweet too. Just be ready for some frantic feathered fun!
What Breeds Make a Frizzle Chicken?
It is unknown what breeds originally made the Frizzle chicken.
However, the frizzle gene most likely came about when a keratin gene accidentally mutated.
Some other chicken breeds can have the frizzle gene, meaning their plumage will also be curly. However, they are still classed as different breeds to the Frizzle chicken breed.
Certain breeds are more prone to frizzling. The most commonly found is the Frizzled Polish aka. the Polish Frizzle chicken.
Others include Frizzled Pekins, Frizzled Plymouth Rocks, Frizzled Japanese Bantams and Frizzled Buff Orpingtons.
This type of chicken is often sold or called a “Frizzle chicken,” which is not correct because they are different breeds.
You can find the Sizzle breed of chicken in Australia. They are a cross between a Frizzle and a Silkie chicken.
Breed standards are the guidelines set to describe the ideal characteristics of a chicken. They are used to judge chicken competitions.
The Australian Poultry Standards, which were made by the Victorian Poultry Fanciers Association, set the standard for the Frizzle chicken breed in Australia.
Chicken breed standards may vary slightly in European countries.
In the rest of the world, including North America, Frizzles are not recognised as a breed. However, they can still be entered into chicken exhibitions as other breeds.
Pure Frizzles will often be entered under the Frizzled Polish or Frizzled Pekin categories.
A Frizzle’s most distinctive feature is their curly feathers. Some people have described them as a chicken feather duster!.
Their curled plumage should look soft, not sharp. Some will appear neater while others will look messier.
Frizzled birds have fluffy feathers that are moderately long. If you look at a normal hen’s feathers, they would lie flat against its body, but these will curl up away from it.
Frizzle chickens come in many different colours and patterns.
Red (like a Rhode Island Red), white, buff, blue, white Columbian, cuckoo, spangled (like an Old English Game), duckwing, and pyle are some of these.
Frizzle chickens have short, erect bodies with a full breast, big tail and long wings.
They don’t have any feathers on their legs, and each foot has four toes. They have yellow feet with black shading allowed on black/blue Frizzles.
They have a small, single comb. Their combs, wattles and ear lobes are all bright red. Their eyes are also bright red.
A Frizzle’s beak is short, strong and yellow.
Frizzle chickens have curly feathers, short bodies, big tails and long wings.
Frizzle chickens come in both a standard and bantam size.
Standard sized Frizzle hens weigh around 2.7kg and roosters weigh around 3.6kg.
Frizzle bantams are tiny! Hens weigh around 0.5kg and roosters weigh around 0.75kg.
Frizzle bantams are currently more popular in Australian than standard sized Frizzles. This is most likely due to how cute they are being so little and curly!.
Being a show bird, Frizzle chickens are not good layers compared to other chickens.
A Frizzle is probably not the best choice if you want a backyard chicken that will lay lots of eggs for your family.
Frizzle Chickens as Pets
Frizzle chickens make wonderful pets. Frizzle owners are very passionate about their birds.
Their unique addition to your flock will amaze guests and make everyone want to know where you got them.
Their curly, Frizzle feathers are poor insulators and struggle to keep their body at a constant temperature. This means they cannot handle the extreme cold or the rain.
They are quiet compared to other birds so won’t annoy your neighbours too much.
Frizzle chickens are a very sweet and friendly bird. They aren’t too energetic and are fairly calm.
They are true lap chickens. They are gentle, easy to handle and enjoy some attention from their human owners.
Some owners even call them “house chickens” or “house birds” because they are so well-behaved that you can bring them inside sometimes.
They are suitable for families with children.
You can combine a Frizzle chicken with other breeds in your backyard flock. However, their docile nature means they are likely to be bullied by more assertive breeds.
They are gentle, easy to handle and enjoy some attention from their human owners
It is best to house them with other docile birds such Polish, Silkies or Wyandottes.
It is also a good idea to house them with birds of a similar size. So if you have bantam Frizzles, house them with other bantam breeds.
If you have standard Frizzles, house them with other standard sized chickens.
Keep an eye on your Frizzles to make sure they are not being pecked at or attacked.
If they are, you will probably have to separate them from your other chickens permanently.
