You’ll Never Guess If Delimondo Corned Beef Is Actually Halal Or Not!

As a proud Muslim foodie, I’m always on the hunt for delicious halal options to enjoy. Corned beef is one of my favorite comfort foods, so when I heard about Delimondo’s premium corned beef, I had to learn more. But the big question was – is Delimondo corned beef really 100% halal?

Well, I did some digging so you don’t have to, and here’s the full scoop on whether or not Delimondo corned beef gets the halal stamp of approval.

So for something like corned beef to be truly halal, it requires more than just containing beef…the production process has to follow halal principles from start to finish.

That’s why official halal certification from recognized Muslim organizations is so important. It guarantees the standards are met.

The Controversy Around Delimondo Corned Beef

Delimondo is a popular brand of corned beef here in the Philippines. They’re known for making high-quality, tasty corned beef that’s a staple in many households and restaurants.

But here’s the scandal – the company behind Delimondo is owned by the Tiu family, who’ve faced controversies over their support for extrajudicial killings and other human rights issues.

Understandably, this has led to calls for a boycott of all Tiu family businesses, including Delimondo.

But when it comes to the halal status of the corned beef itself, that’s a separate issue. As a Muslim, it’s good to be aware of who you’re supporting. However, if the actual product meets halal standards, it remains permissible to eat.

The Verdict: Yes, Delimondo Corned Beef is Halal!

After researching thoroughly, I’m pleased to say that Delimondo corned beef IS officially halal certified…

The Islamic Da’wah Council of the Philippines (IDCP) has certified Delimondo’s corned beef product as halal.

The IDCP sends auditors to inspect the manufacturing facilities and ensure the whole supply chain, ingredients and production process adhere to Islamic requirements.

So while I don’t agree with the parent company’s actions, I can still enjoy Delimondo corned beef guilt-free as a halal-observing Muslim!

Here’s a Look at the Halal Certification Process:

Halal certification from IDCP isn’t easy – companies have to pass a rigorous 3 step assessment:

Step 1: Application

First Delimondo submitted an application detailing their procedures and ingredients to IDCP. This gave the council the info they needed to evaluate the product’s halal status.

Step 2: Facility Inspection

Next, IDCP auditors physically inspected the corned beef production facilities. They checked for cleanliness, food safety procedures, and that all equipment is free from non-halal contamination.

The auditors also verified that the cattle used for corned beef are slaughtered humanely in accordance with zabihah ritual slaughter requirements.

Step 3: Evaluation

Finally, the application info and inspection results go to the IDCP advisory board. The scholars and experts review everything to decide if Delimondo meets the requirements for halal certification.

Since Delimondo passed, their corned beef can bear the trusted halal label. This 3 step process ensures quality control from start to finish.

What About Other Delimondo Products?

While Delimondo corned beef is certified halal, buyers should be aware that other products under the Delimondo brand are NOT halal certified at this time.

This includes other beef and meat products like sausages and luncheon meats. So just because it says “Delimondo” doesn’t mean it’s automatically halal.

I always check for a legitimate halal certification logo from IDCP or other approved agencies before purchasing any meat products. Don’t assume – verify!

Tips for Picking Truly Halal Certified Foods

Here are a few of my tips for ensuring the halal status of any food product:

• Check for credible halal certification. Look for logos from recognized Muslim organizations like IDCP or HFS. This verifies proper process was followed.

• Call the company. If you don’t see a logo, call the company and ask if they have halal certification for the specific product you’re buying.

• Research the ingredients. Even certified foods can contain hidden haram ingredients. Do your homework to understand what’s in the product.

• Consider the manufacturing process. Cross contamination with non-halal foods can disqualify products. Auditing helps avoid this.

Following these guidelines helps me shop with confidence so I can enjoy halal meats, snacks and other products worry-free!

The Verdict on Delimondo Corned Beef

After closely examining the certification process and ingredients, it’s clear that Delimondo corned beef IS officially halal compliant.

While I wish it was made by a company I support ethically, I’m satisfied that the actual product itself adheres to the standards I follow as a Muslim.

Of course, each person has to make their own judgment based on their research and conscience. For me, I’m comfortable continuing to enjoy their delicious corned beef since it’s halal certified!
