If you eat corned beef and cabbage for dinner, you might have the “luck of the Irish,” but that doesn’t mean your food is safe. Instead, follow these tips to make sure that you and your guests don’t turn green (with food poisoning!).

Corned beef that hasn’t been cooked and is in a pouch with pickling juices that has a “sell-by” date or no date on it can be kept in the fridge for 5 to 7 days without being opened. If something has a “use-by” date on it, you can keep it in the fridge until that date without opening it.
