Why the Ninja Foodi Excels at Cooking Frozen Pork
Cooking frozen foods in the Ninja Foodi offers numerous advantages you won’t find using other appliances. The combination pressure cooking and air frying capabilities of the Ninja Foodi are a frozen pork lover’s dream. The Foodi’s air fryer setting allows you to crisp up the exterior of frozen pork chops for texture contrast, while pressure cooking gently brings the interior up to temperature without drying it out. The Ninja Foodi also cooks lightning fast with frozen pork chops ready start to finish in under 30 minutes. Finally, being able to cook frozen chops frees you from needing to plan ahead and thaw. For juicy, tender pork chops in record time, the Ninja Foodi can’t be beat.
Key Tips for Prepping Frozen Pork Chops
While the Ninja Foodi makes cooking frozen pork chops easy, there are a few tips to follow before getting started. First, if your package of chops is a solid frozen block, run some hot water over the backside just until you can separate them. Don’t thaw them completely. Next, pat the chops dry with paper towels. Then, season them liberally on both sides with salt, pepper and any other spices you desire. The Ninja Foodi’s cooking environment concentrates flavors, so don’t be afraid to apply a heavy hand. Finally, let the seasoned chops sit out for 5-10 minutes to take off the chill before cooking. With these simple advance steps, your chops will be ready to transform into a mouthwatering meal.
Air Fryer Perfection
One of the easiest ways to cook frozen pork chops to tender, juicy perfection in the Ninja Foodi is by using the air fryer setting. Here’s a simple step-by-step method:
-
Pre-heat the Ninja Foodi air fryer to 370°F.
-
Arrange the seasoned, frozen pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd them
-
Cook the chops for 8-10 minutes flipping them halfway through. Boneless chops 1 inch thick are ideal.
-
When the initial cook time is up, brush the chops with a bit of oil or spray and season again. Return to cook for 2-5 more minutes if needed.
-
Check that the internal temperature of the largest chop reaches 145°F.
-
Allow the cooked chops to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
The hot air will crisp up the outside of the chops while the inside cooks gently and evenly. Enjoy restaurant-quality pork chops from the comfort of home!
Grilling for More Flavor
The Ninja Foodi Grill is another excellent option for cooking up delicious frozen pork chops. To grill frozen pork chops in the Foodi:
-
Preheat the grill on High for 5 minutes.
-
Place the frozen chops on the grill, being careful not to overcrowd.
-
Close the grill and cook for 6 minutes.
-
Open the grill, flip the chops, brush with oil and season again.
-
Close the grill and cook for another 4-6 minutes, until 145°F internally.
-
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
The chop’s exterior will get nice char lines from grilling, adding great smoky flavor. The relatively quick cook time prevents the inside from drying out. Grilling is a great method when you want more complex flavor in your pork chops.
Pressure Cooking for Lightning Fast Meals
Pressed for time? Use the Ninja Foodi’s pressure cooker to have frozen pork chops plated in under 20 minutes.
-
Add 1 cup liquid to pot and insert trivet. Stock, wine, or water all work well.
-
Season chops and place on trivet frozen.
-
Pressure cook on High for just 6 minutes. Quick release pressure.
-
Check internal temp and cook longer if needed.
-
Rest chops for 5 minutes before serving.
The pressure cooker uses the liquid to quickly steam the chops while concentrating flavor. The hands-free process means you can cook frozen pork chops any night of the week.

Can you put frozen pork in Instant Pot?
Absolutely. We’ve made Instant Pot frozen pork loin before and that came out great. Then we moved on to chops which we share with you here. Tender and juicy in no time.
Frozen pork roast Instant Pot style is amazing too.
Any other method other than the slow cooker works fine. Steaming them essentially in a pressure cooker is our favorite way. Follow our steps here so you can try it too.
It will take about 50% longer than if you had defrosted pork chops. In the oven it is close to 50 minutes, in an Instant Pot it is only 12 minutes!.
Now this isn’t something I do on purpose. I still would recommend cooking from raw instead of rock hard, but stuff happens. In a pinch it’s nice to have this information handy so you can still eat.
Can I put frozen meat in my InstaPot?
I think we’ve answered that one. Now you just have to get the hang of it. We added vegetables on the bottom too because why not.
The trick to that is if you want to enjoy those with your meat, cut them quite large.
- Frozen chops
- Carrots
- Celery
- Broth or water
- Trivet with handles
Most of the time, we use our steak dry rub on all kinds of meat, no matter how we cook them.
- Brown sugar
- Garlic salt
- Salt and pepper
- Smoked paprika
It doesn’t matter if you have bone in pork chops or boneless, these are the latter. The cooking time seems to be the same when you pressure cook these.
But you won’t be able to brown the pork chops ahead of time. You could do two minutes on each side at the end if you wanted to. I personally want them as tender as possible so I don’t.
For really small pieces, I might change the time to 10, but for pieces that are about the right size and thickness, 12 minutes is fine.
The biggest thing to remember is that these need the steam to release naturally and slowly.
If you do a quick release, the food won’t finish cooking slowly enough to be nice and soft.
To get the rub to stick you could rub a bit of olive oil on the outsides.
Time needed: 12 minutes
Frozen Instant Pot pork chops recipe
- Prepare Chop vegetables into large chunks. In a small mix dry rub ingredients together. Rub on both sides of frozen chops generously. Put trivet into pot. Place the vegetables on top, and then pour the chicken broth over them. Place meat on top of everything.
- Cook Close lid and pressure valve. Cook on high pressure for 12 minutes. After you’re done, wait about 15 minutes for the pressure to drop on its own. Release any remaining pressure, should be gone.
